Being named a finalist in the Technology category at the IWWOF Awards wasn’t a competition I set out to win — it was a room full of women honoring each other, and I got to stand in it. I was one of four finalists recognized in Technology, alongside women building across research, AI, and engineering from around the world.

What struck me most wasn’t the stage — it was realizing how many of us are quietly building things few people expect us to build, in a country that isn’t the one we were born in. I moved to Finland, co-founded Syntask, and spent the last two years trying to make port and logistics operations think for themselves.
Building as a foreign founder
Some nights that feels a lot less glamorous than an awards stage. But last night reminded me that the two aren’t separate — building something real, as a foreign founder, in a field with very few women, is exactly the kind of story rooms like this exist to hold up.
